SAILORS’ SCUTTLEBUTT 10 FEBRUARY 2025 – A MISSION TO SAVE SEABIRDS
Gough Island in the South Atlantic was declared a World Heritage Site in 1995 and received Important Bird Area Status in 2013. During COVID in 2021, Ian Mackintosh joined SV Urchin on a mission to remove invasive mice responsible for the near-eradication of critically endangered seabirds. He told us his story at our Feb Sailors’ Scuttlebutt.

Take a boutique winery making small quantities of premium wines, and mix with an artisan cheesemaker who handcrafts special cheeses: mix this with a vibrant, fun-loving crowd of people at the Port Owen Yacht Club. Challenge them to identify the ideal wine to go with each cheese – and voila, you have a spectacularly fun evening!
