A serene winter evening illuminated by thousands of twinkling lights reflecting off the tranquil waters of Port Owen. 💡🕯🪄🏴☠️ Decorations adorn every conceivable floating vessel, from kayaks and canoes to powerboats and yachts, perhaps even a floating tube or two, creating a mesmerizing spectacle that transforms the marina into a vibrant display of community spirit. 🦩🚣♀️⛵️The gentle sound of water rushing past blends harmoniously with warm conversations and laughter among friends, while hot drinks provide comfort against the crisp winter air. Cheers echo from equally brightly decorated balconies and verandas as stars shine brightly overhead, with the moon guiding the procession through the night. 🌠🌜
This enchanting scene sets the stage for an event that promises to be both memorable and magical.
📣The Port Owen Yacht Club proudly announces its inaugural Velddrif community Anything-that-floats Winter Wonderland! 😶🌫️🧜♂️🐧⛄️
And everyone is welcome!
Club members and residents of Velddrif are invited to participate in this unique celebration.
Participants are encouraged to decorate their vessels extensively, whether large yachts or small floating flamingos, contributing to a collective display of creativity and festivity. From past experience we know: when you think you have too many lights fitted to your vessel, fit a few more!
Here’s what you can expect and how it works:
* All vessels, whether moored at jetties or taking part in the event, get made up in a million lights and winter decorations
* All houses along the waterways and marina get made up in a million more lights and decorations!
* Participating vessels meet in front of POYC in the main yacht basin for our event briefing at 17:30pm
* Our lead boat will commence the “procession” in front of POYC and proceed to the far end of the PO canal, then return to the club (please do not turn around to head back before the official turning point!)
* Everyone meet back at the POYC where we are joined by other club members and their guests for a delectable 3-course Indian Dinner evening @ R130 pp (only 80 seats available, so book now!!)
o Starter: Indian savouries
o Mains: Beef / Chicken Curry with rice and sambals
o Dessert: Ice cream and hot chocolate sauce
* Please book your dinner via WhatsApp (061 247 1133) or e-mail info@portowenyc.co.za with your choice of curry mains by 12:00 noon on Thursday, 24 July 2025, and pay your R130 dinner fee to the POYC bank account, details of which as follows:

* Please collect your dinner armband at the clubhouse on Friday, 25 July 2025, between 10:00am and 18:00pm
* Bring lots of laughs, fun, perhaps a flask of hot chocolate, play some music from your veranda, and don’t forget your warm coat and beanie!
