Sailors’ Scuttlebutt 07 April 2025: Transit through the Panama Canal

Monday, 07 April 2025, delivered another excellent afternoon of Sailors’ Scuttlebutt with Bruce and Jeannie Quayle!

Club members and visitors got to sit down to a fantastically shot and edited video, complete with commentary from Bruce, of SV Jabula crossing the Panama Canal as part of the Quayles’ circumnavigation.

What an interesting talk! Bruce expertly lead us through the entire experience of readying the vessel for the transit, entering one water lock after another, first raising up to the lake level, then slowly lowering back down until they sailed safely out into the Pacific ocean.

To round things off, Dariol, Eileen and Ed served some delicious chips, sauce and pies which smelled delicious the whole way through the talk!

Thank you Bruce and Jeannie for this insightful and interesting presentation! We look forward to hearing and seeing more of your circumnavigation next time!

And of course, as always, thanks to Dariol, Eileen and Ed for the lovely treats from the kitchen!
