Carols by Candlelight event held on 21 December 2017.

Dear Members

I would like to thank you so much for your support by attending the Carol's
by Candlelight on Thursday 21st December 2017.  I am pleased to inform you
that R1,306.00 was collected towards the Velddrif Animal Welfare.

Thank you too to each and every one of you who kindly donated Fruit Mince
Pies which went down very well after the Carols.  Thank you too to Alton
Visagie for leading the singing and to our outstanding musicians, Erna Lehy,
Bev Moll, Dot Schaefer and Penelope Cole.  It proved to be a wonderful
evening and the singing was of the top drawer.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish you a Happy New Year filled
with peace, health, love and happiness.

With Kind Regards

Anne du Plessis

Our club members wonderfully supported the Santa Bags initiative for the less privileged children of Noordhoek.  June and Joyce Fouche, together with the amazing "kaalvoet Betty"  as she is lovingly known as in our area, brought great joy to numerous children.

held on Saturday 28 October 2017.

A truly amazing day at the Port Owen Yacht Club, great weather, delicious potjies, stunning venue, secret recipes, and awesome support from our members and guests.  The fires were lit at 11h00 and the cooks battled it out for the top spot, while we all watched with keen interest.

It gives us great pleasure to announce the winner and runners-up.

1st place:    Doris Powel

Utter concentration ................but it was so worth it

2nd place:   Janusz

3rd place:  Wilna and Jacques

Best dressed table:  Marlene du Toit from Teyana's

Special thanks to our judges, Anne du Plessis, Dariol Mcgregor and Susan Kotze and last but not least, Neville Furnell our event organizer.

Congratulations and well done.  Looking forward to seeing you all next year.

As the yacht club is set in a small rural community, the social side of the club is of particular importance and draws boating and non-boating people together in a web of friendliness and social support.
