The Club caters for power boaters and there is an active power boating section with a dedicated representative on the general committee.
Various power boat events are planned during the season and include the following trips into the Bay as well as upriver.
This is an annual event where the boats go upriver to the farm Kruispad and where we have a braai on the lawn of the Manor house of Arthur & Carol Melck situated on the banks of the river.
Most people overnight there and after a Port Owen Yacht Club full cholesterol breakfast the folk return by river to Port Owen. This event is not only for boaters but forms part of the social calendar as well.
This is a social day out on the Bay and all vessels will take non sailing members with for a day of fellowship.
Not much rescue normally needed but this event always is fun for the spectators.
Another fun event, whereby there are clues given and treasure to be found. The day ends off with all participants tying up at the Riviera Hotel jetty and having lunch.
Another annual event at the height of the birding season and ending off with a picnic on the banks of the river on the farm Swaartjiesbaai.
Just another fun day on the river in the company of others and ending off with a braai at our neighboring club the Velddrif Yacht Club and enjoying a lovely braai on their lawn overlooking the river.
The end of the season celebrations where everyone takes to the water for a few hours of fun. The day historically ends off with a German Evening complete with lots of Gluhwein.
The Marina has a safe slipway for launching as well as safe berths at jetties within the main basin of the Marina. For more info on berthing in the Marina see the heading Port Owen Marina Authority
